Fractured Online Nerfs High-Level Gold And Drops To Curb ‘Crazy Solo Speedy Farming’

Dynamight Studios rolled out an Fractured Online. If left unchecked, the huge amounts of gold and rewards in circulation could end up ruining the in-game economy, especially since the sandbox MMORPG only just relaunched into Steam Early Access a month ago.

“This patch wasn’t planned, but it was sorely needed as we saw gold and divine reward generation get out of control in the end game, with insane amounts of gold, orbs and recipes being generated every day,” the developers explained. “This had no damage on the economy yet since it’s been going on for a few days only, but would have a major impact in the long run. Moreover, complaints about PvP balancing were still widespread, so we needed to address those as well.”

The emergency patch not only nerfed gold, reward, and item drops by a significant amount, but also made it harder for solo players to take down endgame bosses. “You need to team up,” said Dynamight CEO Jacopop Galleli. “This is an MMO, end-game mobs aren’t meant to be farmed solo. Crazy solo speedy farming was going to kill the economy. A wide nerf is a hard decision to make, but it’s the right one.”

The team, however, ended up over-compensating and made the high-level mobs nearly impossible to kill even by three-player groups. They’ve since walked back some of the changes after they were met by a flood of complaints. On the upside, players can now respec their characters everyday instead of just once every week.

“Allow me to release an apology here,” Galleli said on Discord. “It’s now clear from your reactions and game data that part of the last patch wasn’t well thought-out. We have a second chance in the making. We still need a couple of days before we can release this as we are working on Endgame Changer and there’s a hell of a lot of new content there.”

Endgame Changer will be the game’s first major update since it’s relaunch and will include even more changes to Fractured Online’s endgame mechanics and content. More information is promised soon.
