EVE Online Adds New Direct Enlistment Feature And Kicks Off Faction War Event
In EVE Online, players often face the conundrum of having to leave their current corporation or alliance to participate in the ongoing faction wars. That’s no longer going to be a problem with the addition of the new Direct Enlistment feature as part of yesterday’s The Path to War update.
“Personal Enlistment allows you to enroll via this new pathway, enabling [faction warfare] participation without leaving a currently unaligned player corp,” C Games explains. “You can still FW via the currently existing pathway (ing a militia corp), and this comes under Group Enlistment.”
To avoid diplomatic conflicts, corporation directors have the option to select which of the four factions their will be allowed to through direct enlistment.
Meanwhile, the ongoing faction war is now ramping up as the narrative arc unfolds with the start of the Shadow War event. Players will be able to directly influence which of the core factions will get their hands on the highly coveted Triglavian interstellar shipcaster tech.
“Empire and capsuleer research efforts into Triglavian technology have provided an opportunity to build brand-new interstellar shipcasters, allowing for the long-distance transport of ships across star systems directly into the warzone,” said the studio. “This development alone has plunged the empires into fierce competition and conflict.”
To advance the Caldari’s cause, players fighting for the faction will need to steal stellar transmuter tech from either the Amarr, the Minmatar, or both. Those who’ve ed up with the Amarr or Minmatar, will need to steal transport relay tech from the Caldari, while those who sided with the Gallente will need to steal tech from the other three factions in order to catch up.
“Once your empire has obtained both the stellar transmuter and transport relay tech by any means necessary, the next step will be to construct the interstellar shipcaster. This will involve the harvesting of materials from Pochven and moons, carrying out industry jobs, and then delivering the output to your empire.”
Personal progression rewards will be given out to players for achieving various faction objectives, including faction-specific combat boosters, new faction-themed SKINs, as well as Versus Redforce and Blueforce SKINs. Players can also now show their allegiance with the introduction of corporation and alliance emblems for all ships.
