EVE Online Is Replacing In-Game Events With A Story-Driven Faction Warfare Campaign

C Games has ed the growing list of developers that decided to change the way they do things this year. Instead of holding regular unrelated events throughout the year, the team says that they’ll soon be introducing a factional warfare campaign that will be tied a bigger narrative arc. Certain events will also be replaced with ones that tie in with the storyline.

“As we start to look beyond Uprising, we’ll be taking the learnings from Factional Warfare and applying them to other areas of space with one of our focuses being on guiding players into more parts of the sandbox, while smoothing the learning curve for novice pilots so they can become valuable recruits for experienced capsuleers,” the studio previously revealed. “The war machine requires scores of cogs to run effectively – every capsuleer has a role and purpose, whether it’s fighting for territory on the frontlines or ing the war effort from the homefront. Every item destroyed requires replacement, driving industry and mining – the backbone of New Eden.”

In line with the new faction warfare campaign, the team also reveals plans to start public testing of a new direct enlistment feature that will allow players to faction wars without having to leave their current corporation or alliance.

Meanwhile, C has set the Photon UI as the sci-fi MMORPG’s default interface since apparently 94% of players use it anyway. The developers also added the ability to change the default state of compactable windows with a single checkbox, a multiple overview feature, and other UI improvements.
