Elite Dangerous Suspends Console Asset Transfers To Review And Update Policy

Prior to Elite Dangerous on consoles, Frontier Developments gave players a one-time only chance to transfer their assets to the PC version of the sci-fi MMORPG. Players were only allowed to transfer credits and the credit cost of any ships they owned but not the DLCs or any currency that they’d purchased. They’d also have to start over as in-game progress wasn’t transferrable to PC.

A recent post on Reddit, however, reveals that the team has temporarily suspended all transfers while they assess and update their transfer policies.

“We are currently in the process of assessing our platform asset transfer policy and seeing what changes are possible for the immediate future,” read the automated reply. “While we investigate these potential improvements we will be holding off on fulfilling platform asset transfer requests until an updated policy is in place. There is currently no ETA on when this might be however we are aiming to update our as soon as possible.”

The suspension has sparked hope that console players will eventually be allowed to transfer their entire s, progress and all, over to PC. In the meantime, all we can do is wait for the studio to announce the updated policy. We’ll let you know as soon as that happens.

Meanwhile, Frontier Developments has returned to their regular livestream schedule earlier today with the first episode of Frameshift. You can check that out in its entirety right after the break.
