Electronic Arts Cancels This Year’s EA Play Live As E3 Remains All-Digital
Electronic Arts has cancelled this year’s EA Play Live event and will not be appearing in any of the game showcases and conventions lined up for this summer, E3 included. EA Play has traditionally been held in June, around the same days as E3, but the studio has decided that teasing little nuggets of information throughout the year will be better for them this year rather than dropping everything in one big event.
“We love EA Play Live as it's our way of connecting with our players and sharing what’s new with all of you. However, this year things aren't lining up to show you everything on one date. We have exciting things happening at our world-class studios and this year we’ll reveal much more about these projects when the time is right for each of them. We look forward to spending time with you throughout the year!”
Aside from FIFA and Madden, this year’s lineup of EA games include three new Star Wars games, including the sequel to Jedi: The Fallen Order, and the Dead Space remake.
Meanwhile, E3 will continue to be an all-digital event this year even as other game conventions return to traditional in-person events, like GDC 2022 which will be held in San Francisco from March 21-25.
