Diablo Immortal’s Splintered Souls Update Introduces Creepy Crawly Combat Pets
Diablo Immortal players can now adopt an assortment of creepy crawlies and have them fight by their side as the free-to-play mobile-first ARPG’s Splintered Souls update goes live. The highlight feature of the update is the new Familiar system which lets you earn (or purchase) various beasts and beings that will not only assist you in battle but will also allow you to further enhance and tweak your builds.
“You can earn Familiars by playing through in-game activities and events, or purchase optional in-game bundles to level and obtain powerful Familiars,” Blizzard explains. “Familiars provide utility powers and ive skills, and they can aid you in battle, but don't impact Resonance or Combat Rating.”
You can have up to six Familiars with you at any given time, but you can only designate one Familiar to actively use its primary skill in battle. The remaining five will help boost your combat prowess with their respective Traits.
“Familiars have Traits, which can improve things such as critical hit chance or movement speed when not actively equipped as the Active Skills,” says the devs. “ive Skills strengthen the Familiar itself, while Traits improve your stats, including the Familiar’s traits.”
Familiars aren’t the only new things that arrived with the update though. Splintered Souls also opened up the new Southern Dreadland zone (which comes with its own zone event), introduced five new Helliquary bosses, new legendary gems, and kicked off a host of new in-game events.
