Diablo Immortal Marks 1st Anniversary And Gears Up For Its Biggest Update Yet

Diablo Immortal is gearing up for its highly anticipated fourth update, titled “Destruction’s Wake,” as the game celebrates its first anniversary this week. This update is undeniably the MMO-ish ARPG’s largest and most ambitious one yet, promising a plethora of exciting additions for players to sink their teeth into.

One of the standout features is the introduction of the new zone known as Ancients’ Cradle, which serves as a homage to the co-creators of Sanctuary, Lilith and Inarius. The new zone also comes with a new questline that will only be available to players who’ve reached Hell Difficulty VI.

As part of the Ancients’ Cradle questline, players will delve into a series of ruins, uncovering the rich history of the Lilin and Inari peoples whose lineage traces back to Sanctuary’s co-founders. As you navigate through the ruins, your ultimate objective is to thwart the nefarious Cult of Terror, who seek to purify the Worldstone, a dangerous endeavor that could place the power of creation directly into the clutches of Diablo himself.

Alongside the new zone, the Destruction’s Wake update also introduces the long-awaited Inferno difficulty to Diablo Immortal. To unlock Inferno II and III, players must face the formidable Hearthrot Demons which will put their skills and strategies to the ultimate test. The Inferno-exclusive dungeon drops will also grant players the opportunity to obtain the coveted Seeds of Sown Gold set, further fueling their pursuit of power.

Those who dare to embrace the fiery challenges of Inferno difficulty will be rewarded with access to new leaderboards, exclusive Legendary items, and the innovative Stances combat mechanic. Stances will allow players to equip both gemmed and non-gemmed gear in a second set of equipment slots.

“All Classes have both an Offensive and Defensive Stance. They each provide unique ive bonuses that further the proficiencies of your Class and can be shifted between every 30 seconds while in combat,” Blizzard explained. “Upon switching Stances, the ive bonus will be thrice as strong for the first 3 seconds, allowing you to immediately reap the benefits of your Offensive or Defensive stance.”

On the subject of gems, three new Legendary Gems have been introduced in this update: Exigent Echo, Ironbane, and Starfire Shard. These Gems offer unique attributes that will allow players to further tweak their builds.

Players can also look forward to engaging in three limited-time events that offer an array of new challenges and rewards. Additionally, each class will also receive a new skill, injecting fresh dynamics into gameplay. Paragon levels will also be receiving a significant boost and will have its cap raised to level 800. Players can also expect to encounter new demons and obtain new Legendary items to further increase their character’s power.

The Destruction's Wake update is set to go live later today in the Americas, Europe, Oceania, and Asia. Details can be found in the full patch notes on the Diablo Immortal official website.
