Cyberpunk 2077 Is Back On The PlayStation Store
When Sony pulled Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation Store following Q1 2022 financial report.
“The general situation as long as we are not back on the Sony store has not changed,” reported the company. “One of the leading marketplaces for us is not available and we generate most of the sales on the PC/digital channels.”
Things, however, seem to finally be looking up for CD Projekt Red as Sony reinstates the gritty sci-fi RPG on their digital storefront six months after they were unceremoniously pulled from its shelves.
“CD PROJEKT RED today announced that the PlayStation 4 version of Cyberpunk 2077 is available for purchase worldwide on the PlayStation Store. In addition to the game being available on PlayStation 4, anyone who purchases the game can also play it on PlayStation 5 via backward compatibility.”
Of course, being back on the PlayStation Store doesn’t necessarily mean that the game is fixed. “s may continue to experience some performance issues with the PS4 edition while CD PROJEKT RED further works to improve stability across all platforms,” itted CD Projekt. “Playing on PS4 Pro and PS5 will provide the best Cyberpunk 2077 experience on PlayStation.”
A free PlayStation 5 upgrade will also be rolling out sometime later this year which will allow the game to take advantage of the next-gen console’s more powerful hardware. The upgrade will be available in both digital form and on physical discs.
Cyberpunk 2077’s return to the PlayStation Store could be a turning point for CD Projekt Red which has seen their quarterly profits fall by as much as 50% due to its prolonged absence from the storefront. While that’s all well and good for the company, they still have bigger problems to face with four ongoing class action lawsuits and backlash from the community following their decision to put the promised Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer mode on hold indefinitely.
