Blizzard Entertainment Is Hiring Developers For An Unannounced Survival Game Based On A New IP

Last week, Blizzard Entertainment put out a call for developers to work on a new unannounced survival game set in an all-new universe. The job posting itself seems to serve as both a teaser, a pitch, and an announcement of sorts all rolled into one.

“Blizzard is embarking on our next quest. We are going on a journey to a whole new universe, home to a brand-new survival game for PC and console. A place full of heroes we have yet to meet, stories yet to be told, and adventures yet to be lived. A vast realm of possibility, waiting to be explored. Every story needs a teller. And every world needs builders. What if that could be you?”

The news that the studio is working on a new IP came as a surprise to many although it seems that the game has already been in development for over four years based on Craig Amai’s LinkedIn profile. Amai was formerly the lead quest designer for World of Warcraft and is now the project lead for the unannounced title. Blizzard head honcho Mike Ybarra also revealed that he’s spent many hours playing the game with the dev team.

That being said, it looks like the game won’t be coming out anytime soon, although a growing team is always a good sign. Hopefully, this doesn’t end in another round of layoffs. You can check out the full job posting on Blizzard’s official site.
