Black Desert Online Adds Enhancement ‘Pity System’ And Tweaks Karma Penalties

Pearl Abyss has heard the fervent pleas of Black Desert Online players and has now made it easier to enhance their weapons and gear with the introduction of the new Ancient Anvil system. In a nutshell, the Ancient Anvil guarantees players a successful enhancement after they’ve failed a certain number of times.

With the new system in place, a failed enhancements on accessories, weapons, and armor will now generate an Essence of Agris. Acquire enough of the essences on an accessory or a weapon/armor group to activate the Ancient Anvil and get a 100% success rate on the next enhancement. The icing on the cake is that Essences of Agris will be granted retroactively for all failed enhancement attempts since the last successful enhancement from January 1, 2024.

“Unlike accessories, weapons and armor (Blackstar, Slumbering Armor, etc.) are grouped together,” explains the devs. “As long as the enhancement level is the same, the number of essences will be maintained even if you change from Blackstar Longsword to Blackstar Greatsword.

The latest update also introduced a whole host of quality-of-life improvements to other gameplay systems including guild leagues, item usage, the quest log, and season rewards. The Karma System has also been tweaked with to discourage griefing by making it harder to recover Karma and lowering the minimum value of Karma even further.
