Battalion 1944 Aims To Bring Back The Chaos Of WWII Shooters

WWII shooters have been sorely underrepresented in recent years, but Bulkhead Interactive wants to change that with Battalion 1944. Recently launched on Kickstarter the shooter raised over 80% of its desired funding in under 48 hours, and has been successfully funded with almost a month to go. The multiplayer FPS runs on Unreal Engine 4 and is developed in the spirit of Medal of Honor and Call of Duty 2 (I miss playing those games).

Battalion 1944 touts authentic weapon sounds, designs, and will send players charging through real-world battle locations such as Carentan, . Raw skill will be needed to survive the battlefield, with no "unbalanced unlocks, overpowered abilities," or other shenanigans featured in the game.

It announces on the heels of another historically-based shooter, War of Rights. It's exciting to witness independent studios return to history as a setting for FPS's. I'm looking forward to both games and eager to see what comes next—Waterloo?

Head to the game's website to learn more about the project.
