Bobby Kotick Received $15 Million Golden Parachute With His Recent Departure

The end of Bobby Kotick’s lengthy stint as CEO of Activision Blizzard last week has opened the floodgates to articles and posts about his infamous reign.

On one hand, there are those who criticize his villainous leadership of the company, oftentimes bordering on being comical. On the other, he’s also received reluctant praise for his hand in bringing in record-breaking profits. It’s mostly the latter, but you have to give credit to the guy for leading Activision Blizzard to an unprecedented period of growth during his 32 years as its CEO. His methods, however, leave much to be desired.

The most recent revelation out of that neck of the woods is that Kotick stepped down with a nice big golden parachute in the form of a $15 million severance package. Whether he deserves that big of a severance package is up for debate amid the financial challenges that have been plaguing the tech and gaming industries over the past two years.

How Activision Blizzard will fare with Microsoft Gaming head Phil Spencer at its helm remains to be seen.
